WHY: In the burgeoning age of AI, the most critical skill is the ability to deeply understand the complex systems and structures underlying the problems we seek to solve. Community Based System Dynamics (CBSD) is a community based participatory practice and methodology for building community capacity to understand, describe and intervene on complex societal problems.
What You Will Learn
This unique capacity-building experience will equip you with sophisticated tools and a profound understanding of how to co-create robust solutions grounded in community wisdom and lived experience.
Participants will:
Shift their problem-solving approach from linear cause-and-effect thinking to a systems and feedback perspective.
Gain hands-on experience with key systems thinking tools, including Behavior Over Time Graphs and Causal Loop Diagrams.
Learn to effectively leverage technology like AI to confront complex, persistent community challenges (e.g., housing insecurity, health disparities).
The workshop will be led by Donald Martin, Jr, the founder and CEO of GILS.
